May 20 I work from home and eat leftover Thai takeout with Nate. I spent way too much on my girls weekend in Ashland, but I make a $900 payment to one of my credit cards and can see my balance dwindling. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
May 21 I pack my lunch and drink Work Coffee.
May 22 I buy lunch for myself and a coworker, $30.
May 23 Lunch at the food carts, $14.
May 24 I pack my lunch for work, but order Thai food for myself and the kids for dinner while Nate is out with friends. $42.
May 25 I go to my favorite local craft store and spend $41 on a pattern, thread and a few notions for the dress I am going to make from the tie-dye fabric I bought in Ashland. I’m thrilled to find a pattern for a dress I can make from only 2.5 yards of fabric.
May 26 I meet a friend for brunch – I buy ($50). I haven’t seen her in months and we have lots of catching up to do. She is celebrating a promotion and grappling with some really tough family challenges. Afterwards I stop at a local pet store to buy a few birthday treats for our dog who is turning 16 in a few days ($12). I go home and happily sew. I finish the dress by the end of the weekend, feeling the immense satisfaction of creating something with my hands that fits me perfectly and that I can’t wait to wear.
